Innovation in Southern cuisine Since 1988

Thank you for visiting us on the web, we hope to serve you soon! At Hank’s we take pride in our craft by sourcing the most succulent ingredients and delicious products possible to make everything by scratch. We have formed relationships with our community and local farmer as a trusted source for foods that are both tasty and fresh! Our story begins in 1988 when the owner, Stacy Rose, and business partner felt driven, focused and passionate about creating a BBQ product that was unique to the Shenandoah Valley. The two were in their 20’s and became very successful at providing quality and valuable dishes at weddings and events.

As years went on, the two began building Hank’s, located on Route 33 near Massanutten Mountain, from scratch…just as they had been making their food for years. The upstairs portion of the building is a restaurant fit with custom art pieces and structural designs that are captivating just as you walk inside. There is a full-service seating area, beautiful hand-made bar, cozy kitchen, and in the downstairs area; a Catering Department, full bakery and smoke-pit with everything needed to cater multiple events, sometimes for thousands of people in one day!

So what makes our BBQ so different? Aside from our experience; we smoke everything over hickory and train Pit Masters to perfect every ounce of meat. Our motto from the day we began has been “if it ain’t wood, it ain’t right”. We hand-slice steaks, smoke our Prime Rib and even have smoked wings on our appetizer menu that are an employee favorite! Our sauces are also made-from-scratch recipes and we do not sauce our Pork or Texas-Style Beef Brisket ahead. You’ll never find your pork swimming in sauce or your Texas Brisket pre-cut. Every pork shoulder is pulled to-order and the customer sauces it themselves. Whether in the restaurant or on a catering job, we slice each savory bit of our Smoked Brisket by hand for each order.

Stacy and his family are involved in every process in the restaurant to this day. Their daughter often visits and says hello to the fish in our large dining room fish tank. Our staff is one big family and the atmosphere in our restaurant is family-friendly—we wouldn’t have it any other way. We invite you and your family and friends to come in and see what our kitchen staff has been cooking.
